Cue the jokes about Texas Tech football not being at full capacity regardless of the announcement made by the university, because they will at the very least be offering every seat in the house this fall.

Along with the classrooms returning to full capacity and face-to-face instruction, the Red Raiders fan experience will also get a boost with the traditional gameday festivities returning to normal. That includes tailgating and the party that goes on outside of the stadium before every home football game.

Texas Tech President Dr. Lawrence Schovanec and Provost Ronald Hendrick made the announcement on Monday, July 19th, saying, "We look forward to an exciting on-campus collegiate experience this fall. As we announced earlier this year, we will return to face-to-face instruction as our primary modality, and all campus facilities will return to full capacity. Red Raider Athletics will also return to regular operations, including full capacity at all venues, along with our traditional pre-game and gameday festivities."

That means the rest of the fall sports, like volleyball and cross country, will also be full capacity.

This is great news for not only the football team, but for the local economy. The community will get a huge boost with 65,000 fans at Jones Stadium instead of the 25,000ish that packed the house in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions. Include the tailgate scene and the after-party for the Red Raiders fans after a couple of victories and we're on our way to normalcy.
