Texas Tech Demolishes Lamar by 77 Points: Bowman and Duffey Both Play [Photos, Video]
Texas Tech Football on Saturday beat Lamar 77-0 in the 2018 home opener at Jones AT&T Stadium.
It was the most complete game I had seen from a Red Raider Football team in years. Forty-two points were scored in the first half, plus another 14 with the second string offense in the third quarter. The defense also played their best game in years, forcing their first shutout since 2006.
Texas Tech linebacker Riko Jeffers led the defense with nine tackles and a forced fumble.
Alan Bowman started the game at quarterback in place of the injured McLane Carter (high ankle sprain). Bowman went 22/25 passing for 282 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
The most prolific rusher in Texas Tech's win was Jett Duffey. He had six carries for 81 yards and one touchdown. Running backs Demarcus Felton, Ta'Zhawn Henry and SaRodorick Thompson each had two rushing touchdowns a piece in Tech's win. Texas Tech's seven rushing touchdowns against Lamar were the most in a game since 1950.
Twelve different Red Raiders caught passes as fourth-string quarterback Colt Garrett also received some playing time in the fourth quarter. The leading receiver was KeSean Carter with 6 receptions for 76 yards. Also, Antoine Wesley had 4 catches for 87 yards and one touchdown.
Texas Tech had 683 yards of total offense compared to Lamar's 182 yards. The Red Raiders only committed one turnover, while the Cardinals turned over the ball four times.
