Shocking Number of Students Arrested Across Texas For Making Threats Against Schools
The start to the school year is nothing like I've seen in the past when it comes to the number of threats made against schools, and now the number of arrests we are seeing across Texas. Many of the arrests have some similarities while others stand apart.
If you remember much about the last 3 weeks in the news, you'll probably remember that many schools have received bomb threats or threats about a possible shooting. Schools across Texas evacuated and some even cancelled classes.
Now, police are making arrests and the number of students being arrested is shocking.
Hays CISD confirmed over the weekend that a sixth student had been arrested due to threats made towards campuses. Austin ISD Police say 30 threats were made against AISD schools last week alone. According to KVUE, the Travis County DA's office says they have 30 cases pending, just two of those involve adults.
CBS reported that three students in Arlington ISD, one in Frisco ISD, and another in Wylie had all been arrested last week for threats against schools. These are all separate cases. According to FOX, four students in Lewisville were arrested for making threats against schools. Sulphur Springs ISD announced to KETK that a 14-year-old for making threats against her school on social media. And according to expressnews.com, A 7th grade Medina Valley student was recently arrested in connection with making threats about a school shooting.
And these are just a few examples of students across the state of Texas who have been arrested for these threats.
Not all the threats have been related to a hoax or spread online. A 12-year-old was arrested and a weapon was seized after Bexar County Sheriff's Office learned of a threat against another student according to KENS5.com.
