Lubbock Man With Meth Pipe Caught Burglarizing Home Depot

Do we know what Gen-Z social media team member took over the Lubbock Police Department's Facebook page? I mean, sure it's informative regarding the recent arrest made after a man burglarized a business, but the update is riddled with so many jokes, puns, and sarcastic remarks that you'd think they hired some high schooler named Blake.

37-Year-Old Lubbock Man Arrested

Jokes aside, 37-year-old Eric Scott was arrested on Sunday and booked on a total of 36 charges.

According to Everything Lubbock, Scott was caught burglarizing Home Depot in town and attempting to steal roughly $2,700 in merchandise.

Here's What Happened

On Sunday, July 19, just before 10 p.m., LPD responded to a call made from the Home Depot on West Loop 289 after the burglary alarm was tripped.

When officers arrived, they saw Scott fleeing northbound on Chicago Avenue on foot. They eventually lost him, choosing to dispatch a K-9 unit to continue the search.

Scott was eventually discovered hiding in some bushes nearby, and officers found a small baggie containing crystal meth along with a magnet used to remove security devices from merchandise.

When questioned, Scott admitted that he had entered the Home Depot and hid behind a display until the business closed and everybody left. He then emerged to begin stealing items.

In his backpack, cops also found two dozen lockpicking devices, several magnets, a glass pipe, and an unopened battery pack from Home Depot.

Scott was charged with 36 total crimes, including 25 counts of unlawful use of criminal instruments, five counts of possessing, manufacturing, and distributing instruments to commit retail theft, one count of burglary of a building, one count of evading arrest, among other charges.

He was sent to the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond.
