Here are just a few things in Chad’s Pile that you will hear on Lubbock’s First News this morning. Give Chad your feedback on the steaming topics.

1. Texas Smoking ban still alive (link)

Yep, the statewide smoking ban is still alive thanks to people who can't think for themselves and liberals. By a 5-4 vote the bill got out of committee and now heads to the full upper chamber for a vote. I hope it's killed off there or by Governor Perry. This is government overreach at it's finest. Perry has no reason not to veto.

2. President Obama's views are evolving (link)

President Obama's views on gay marriage keep evolving according to the White House. Seriously? Anyone who buys what the White House says on this issue is delusional. The real answer is, President Obama is seeking re-election and doesn't want to rock the boat.

3. Texas loves lightbulbs (link)

According to FOX News, Texas lawmakers are ignoring the feds when it comes to light bulbs.

State lawmakers have passed a bill that allows Texans to skirt federal efforts to promote more efficient light bulbs, which ultimately pushes the swirled, compact fluorescent bulbs over the 100-watt incandescent bulbs many grew up with.

The measure, sent to Gov. Rick Perry for consideration, lets any incandescent light bulb manufactured in Texas - and sold in that state - avoid the authority of the federal government or the repeal of the 2007 energy independence act that starts phasing out some incandescent light bulbs next year.

Good for Texas. Feds controlling light bulbs? Please.
