Dangerous and Severe Weather Expected Sunday For Texas
Lubbock, along with the rest of the South Plains and Panhandle enjoyed a Saturday without any severe weather happening. But that's all predicted to change on Sunday due to the increased threat of severe weather. Severe weather from Lubbock to Amarillo and from Midland to Texarkana is expected on Sunday.
The storms that develop in the Panhandle, South Plains and Big Country on Sunday could be extremely dangerous with Lubbock seeing an "enhanced" risk of storms and from Plainview north, the risk level is a 4 out of 5 at moderate.
Severe Weather Sunday Across Texas
While an "enhanced" risk may not sound too bad, that is the risk level we saw on both Thursday and Friday in Lubbock, and we saw severe weather on both days. Today's warm temperatures could fuel even stronger storms across many parts of Texas.
Storms are expected to fire up sometime Sunday afternoon. Rain, large hail, high winds, and yes even the possibility of a tornado. The risk is even higher as you get into the Panhandle and stretch across Northern Texas, including into Wichita Falls where there could be significant severe weather
What to do During Severe Weather
If severe weather breaks out, make sure you have a plan. A place to ride out the storm that is well built and an inner room without windows or glass is best. Pay attention to weather alerts and local forecasts. In Lubbock, NewsTalk 95.1 FM and 790 AM KFYO will air severe weather coverage with KAMC's Ron Roberts.
