James Quintero, Director of the Center for Local Governance at the Texas Public Policy Foundation joined The Chad Hasty Show on Friday to talk about reining in out of control local regulation in the state of Texas.

Talking about his organization's purpose, Quintero said:

We actually opened up shop knowing that we have been doing so well at the state level, but we have been failing here in Texas in terms of local government public policy. I think when you look at things like spending, debt, taxes, regulation, all of these things are going in the wrong direction at the local level.

Quintero also talked with a listener who had a question about local restrictions on private water use:

A lot of this is being done under the guise of local control. And as you eluded to, what this means is, an extra invisible government that effectively has the ability to tax and spend and borrow and infringe on property rights.

Hasty and Quintero also discussed restrictions and bans on fracking.
