Texas Product Recalls: Recapping the Last Thirty Days
Texas has seen a slew of food recalls and alerts within the past month, so here are some of the top ones that may have made you suspicious of your pantry…
#1 Organic Walnuts
On April 27th, the U.S. FDA entered an active investigation regarding E. coli cases from consuming bulk Organic Walnuts from a variety of retail stores across America, 17 of which residing in Texas.
#2 Palmer Candy Company
On May 5th, Palmer Candy Company announced they were recalling their "white coated confectionary items" due to the risk of Salmonella contaminants. Check out the full list of recalled products from Palmer here. It's important to note that this was a proactive measure taken to mitigate any potential health threat. No illnesses were reported of Salmonella in connection with these products.
#3 Texas Pecan Company
Texas Pecan, located in Dallas, TX, made a company announcement on May 8th recalling all 1 lb. and 8 oz. products due to the risk of threatening allergic reactions. No cases have been reported of individuals acquiring illnesses, but the company wanted to play it safe by recalling these potential cross-contaminated products from the shelves.
#4 Great Value Organic Black Chia Seeds
May 10th saw Natural Sourcing International voluntarily recall black chia seeds from Great Value due to the potential presence of Salmonella. This decision was made out of caution, as no adverse reactions have been reported from the product so far.
If you have purchased any of these products or others from the FDA recall list, it's advised that you either toss the product, return it for a refund, or follow whatever other steps the company recommends.
Unless you want to live life on the edge and risk it... please don't do that.
