Blue Bell Ice Cream Issues Recall Over Potentially Dangerous Packaging Error
Fans of some types of Blue Bell Ice Cream may want to check their carton again to make sure it's the flavor they really wanted. Blue Bell Ice Cream over the weekend announced that an error had led to some ice cream cartons being mislabeled. The problem is that those who have a nut allergy could be impacted.
Blue Bell Ice Cream Issues Limited Recall
According to Chron.com, Blue Bell announced that a "limited quantity" of half-gallon packages of Moo-llennium Crunch ice cream were packed in the wrong container. In fact, Moo-llennium Crunch was packed into Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough containers.
The problem is that due to the wrong packaging, there aren't any warnings on the packaging about the use of tree nuts. Moo-llennium Crunch uses almonds, walnuts, and pecans. For those who are allergic to nuts, opening the wrong container could be very dangerous.
According to Delish, the code 061027524 is stamped on the lid, however an employee caught the error while restocking and Blue Bell says all effected products have been removed. Also, no illnesses have been reported.
What Should Blue Bell Customers Do About The Recall?
Still, Blue Bell encourages customers to make sure by looking at the code on the top of the lid. According to Delish, only those specific half-gallons were impacted and that other half gallons of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough are packed correctly. If somehow you did get the incorrect ice cream, take it back to the store for a refund.
According to Blue Bell, various retailers across 16 states including Texas were impacted.
