Texas Father Tries To Kill Newborn By Forcing Child To Drink Gasoline
There are just some stories that make you want to shake your head in disbelief. This is one of those stories.
A Texas man is in jail on a $255,000 bond and is facing attempted capital murder charges after police say 24 year-old Edgar James Bridgemon tried to kill his newborn son by forcing the infant to drink gasoline.
According to The Independent, police in the city of Paris, Texas, responded to a home where EMS medics were attending to a 4-month-old boy. Police were told that the boy's father had given him gasoline to drink. The Independent reported that the 24 year-old admitted that he gave the newborn gas to drink in order to kill him. KXII reported that the newborn's mother "presented the infant to police and said she believed the child's father had given the child gasoline to drink".
Officers caught Bridgemon attempting to run away from the scene.
The child is alive and was taken to the hospital and transferred to a facility in Dallas for further care. It was not reported who called police or if the child will be reunited with his mother any time soon.
KXII reported on Tuesday that the child was in stable condition and was being monitored at an area hospital.
