A former member of the Corpus Christ Independent School District (CCISD) administrative staff was recently arrested and charged with planting drug-related evidence on a student.

Corpus Christi Classroom Investigation

KRIS 6 News first reported the incident last year, when the mother of a Hamlin Middle School student fought back on her son's suspension. She claimed that her son was unjustly disciplined, as a marijuana vape pen was found in his backpack. But, here's where it gets interesting.

You see, the vape pen wasn't originally in the boy's backpack. It was first found behind a cabinet after someone else threw it there. When an assistant principal, Amanda Corona, happened to find the pen behind the cabinet, she was recorded telling an officer who was with her at the time to just place it in the student's bag.

Corona just assumed that it was the boy's, but after the student was suspended and the audio recordings came to light, the administrator was under fire for a year.

CCISD released a statement shortly after, saying that Corona was placed on administrative leave until the investigation is finished. They also stated that "Corpus Christi ISD does not support nor tolerate such alleged behavior on any school or district property."

Administrative Arrest

The assistant principal has now been arrested and charged with "tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and official oppression," KRIS 6 News reports.

The arrest affidavit also states that both Corona and former CCISD Police Officer Andrew Gonzalez agreed to falsely accuse the student.

The same vape pen was also passed to another student's binder, and Corona and Gonzalez claimed a separate student was punished after being accused of owning the pen from another student.

Confused? Yeah, me too. Basically, reports are showing that Amanda Corona, along with Andrew Gonzalez were involved in a big framing ring and are both suffering the consequences now.
