On Friday, Jan. 24, Texas DPS troopers discovered more than 140 pounds of THC and marijuana inside a moving van.

The discovery was made at about 12:30 p.m. during a traffic stop on US 84 between Lubbock and Shallowater. A U-Haul truck was pulled over for a traffic violation and a DPS trooper reported signs of criminal activity.

A K-9 unit was called after the driver denied a trooper’s request to search the vehicle. Just under 58 pounds of THC products were found inside along with 90 pounds of marijuana.

The driver and passenger, who were reportedly traveling from Los Angeles to Austin, were both arrested at the scene and questioned by the Texas Department of Public Safety's Criminal Investigation Division.
