"I'm the only candidate in the race that's specifically laying out what we need to do to improve the Comptroller's office, to make it more responsible, more responsive to Texas and Texas taxpayers, and help to use it to help cooperate and partner with Texas businesses to grow the Texas economy and to make us all more prosperous."

Hilderbran went on to discuss several of the points in his plan. He discussed the importance of protecting Texas against IRS harrassment, as well as enacting a taxpayers' bill of rights. Hilderbran also committed to conducting more performance reviews and protecting the personal data of Texans, particularly since the Comptroller's office has had a data breach in the past.

Hilderbran also shared his thoughts on the performance of the current state Comptroller Susan Combs. He said that he respected and appreciate Combs's efforts to keep the Comptroller's office transparent, but disliked how she did not address...
