Friday on The Chad Hasty Show, Patrick Svitek from the Texas Tribune joined Chad to talk about the latest events in the nation as well as in the state of Texas.

Svitek and Hasty discussed news from the Texas legislature including property taxes and Texas Senator Kel Seliger's stance on SB-2, as well as the U.S.-Mexico border wall and President Trump's declaration of a national emergency this morning (February 15, 2019).

While talking about the president's national emergency declaration, and how Texas politicians will view that decision, Svitek said,

There's been pretty mixed opinions. You've got Dan Patrick, the lieutenant governor, saying he's all in on this idea. You've got the two U.S. senators, John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, a little more cautious, and having a little more reservation about it. I'm curious to see how that declaration tests Trump's political loyalties and alliances here in Texas.
