Suspect Arrested by Lubbock Police After Hour-long Standoff
A man is behind bars in Lubbock after a standoff with local and state authorities. According to Lubbock police, they received a report at about 3:35 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, that someone was driving their truck on the grass at a local apartment complex.
Members of the Department of Public Safety and the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office informed local police they were engaged in a car chase with a vehicle reported stolen.
The suspect tried to escape by driving through the Ella Apartment complex, but ended up ditching the vehicle and barricading himself inside one of the apartments.
After an hour-long standoff with police, the suspect was taken into custody and treated at a local hospital for a bite from a police K-9. The suspect's identity has not yet been verified.
