A dispute over stolen marijuana is apparently what led to a Lubbock teenager being shot in the face and a SWAT Team callout.

KAMC News reports that in the early afternoon hours of Wednesday, April 20th, 17-year-old Samuel Sanchez and two others drove to the 2600 block of 47th Street to sell marijuana. There, they were approached by 19-year-old Aldan Sarabia. At one point, Sarabia reached into the car, stole marijuana and money, and ran away.

The three tried looking for Sarabia and ended up at a residence where they thought he went, located in the 2600 block of 48th Street. The woman who answered the door pointed the three to a different location, but they found no one there.

The trio came back and, at some point while they were talking to the woman, Sarabia came out of the house with a firearm and pointed it at Sanchez. One of the others tried to grab the gun, but he and Sarabia fell to the ground, causing the gun to go off and strike Sanchez in the face.

Sanchez was located by police as they were responding to the shots fired call, and he was later transported to Covenant Medical Center via a private vehicle.

At the scene, SWAT and K9 were called to assist LPD "due to the circumstances surrounding the call." SWAT eventually entered the residence and found Sarabia in the basement.

Sarabia remains booked in the Lubbock County Detention Center on an aggravated assault charge.
