A West Texas state representative is kicking off his reelection campaign.

State Representative Jim Landtroop, who currently represents District 85, which includes Garza, Floyd, Borden, and Crosby, and other counties, will have two kickoff events this week.

Landtroop’s district has been subject to change due to redistricting by the Texas Legislature during the past session, and the district will be changed to House District 88.

The kickoff events are designed to embrace the current redistricting situation, according to the campaign. “Currently, the great folks of HD 85 are my constituents and the good people of HD 88 are my future constituents. We will know in a couple of weeks what counties will be included in the final maps”, Landtroop said.

Landtroop has listed education reform and water policy as two of the issues which he holds as most important.

The first event will be held at the Wood Fire Grill in Plainview. The event will run from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the restaurant, located at 910 North Interstate 27.

The second event will be held Thursday, October 27th at the home of Rob and Suzanne Haney from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Big Spring. Their home is located at 214 East Morgan Street.
