Students are heading back to school, preseason NFL football is underway, and we are getting really college football to kickoff in a few weeks. While we are still dealing with summer, it all means we are getting closer to fall and also getting closer to one of Lubbock's favorite events, the South Plains Fair!

The Panhandle South Plains Fair Will Be Here Soon

This year, the Panhandle South Plains Fair will be celebrating 108 years in Lubbock. And the fair just seems to be getting better and better each year. This year the fair will be open September 19-27.

Those attending the fair this year will be able to enjoy games and rides, free entertainment, of course livestock shows.

Last year during the fair, we were there in time to catch the Swifty Swine Racing Pigs. It's one the free attractions, and it was fun to watch. There is also the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack show throughout the week.

For a full list of shows and attractions, visit the Fair's website.

Don't Forget About the Food at the South Plains Fair!

And of course, no trip to the fair is complete without indulging in fair food. Foot long corny dog, and fried cheese on a stick? Yes please! At least, that's what I will be having at the fair this year.

One of the things I really like about the Panhandle South Plains Fair is that the food vendors are non-profit organizations and churches. This means a lot of the money you spend at the fair goes right back into our community.

So get ready for another year of the Panhandle South Plains Fair. And I'll see you there.
