Sen. John Cornyn Discusses Reelection Campaign, Democrat Challengers, Border Security [INTERVIEW]
On Friday's edition of The Chad Hasty Show, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) joined Chad in the KFYO studio to discuss Cornyn's reelection campaign and his challengers, as well as additional issues up front for Texas and the United States.
Cornyn and Hasty talked about the hot topic issues of border security, the inflow of illegal drugs into the U.S. and illegal immigration, as well as the opposition to his reelection, Democrat challengers for his seat in the U.S. Senate, and the left's goals of defeating the traditional conservative agenda in Texas.
Cornyn said,
We can't take [Texas' traditional conservatism] for granted anymore. These folks want to turn Texas into California and New York, and we can't let that happen on our watch.
While discussing border security, human trafficking, illegal immigration, and President Donald Trump's threats to close the border, Hasty asked Cornyn, "Is there a crisis in your mind, on the border?" Cornyn replied,
Absolutely... Last year alone seventy thousand plus Americans died in drug overdoses. About half of that was opioids, including synthetic Fentanyl from Mexico, and heroin. Ninety percent of the heroin that gets in the United States comes from Mexico. So this is a crisis.
