San Angelo Man Accepts Plea Deal to Avoid Trial
40-year-old Miguel Castillo accepted a plea deal Monday for attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor.
Castillo will be sentenced at a later date to no more than 10 years in prison if the deal is accepted by a federal judge or magistrate.
Court records say on December 21st, a Lubbock County Sheriff's Office deputy was posing as a 14-year-old girl on Instagram. Castillo often brought up the topic of sexual intercourse and requested that the officer send inappropriate photos.
He had also sent 3 inappropriate pictures of himself to the officer.
Castillo made arrangements for a meeting on December 31st with the officer and was arrested. Court records said that at the time of his arrest "Castillo had a teddy bear, panties, a rose and condoms."
State prosecutors also filed a criminal charge against Castillo for online solicitation of a minor. Jail records indicated that Castillo was homeless and from San Angelo.
