The local Salvation Army is teaming with a store to help provide children in need with necessary school supplies and clothes.

The Salvation Army of Lubbock and Target have teamed up to provide gift cards to some kids that are preparing for school.

The groups will provide $80 gift cards to 19 children in kindergarten through 12th grade selected from existing Salvation Army programs.

The cards can be used to purchase school items including clothing, shoes, backpacks, and school supplies. Target has donated $1,360 in this particular drive.

The students will receive the cards on Thursday, August 23rd at 10 a.m. at the Target at University Avenue and South Loop 289.

As part of the Target School Spree, the company awarded all 40 of the Salvation Army divisions nationwide a total of $1 million to help kids prepare for the school year.
