It’s the little things in life that most people take for granted – having clean clothes, eating a warm meal, and being able to sleep in an actual bed at night. The mothers and fathers of critically ill and injured children don't always have these simple luxuries because their attention is on more important issues that no parent should have to face.

This is where the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest comes in to help.

"Our Ronald McDonald House provides families with a place to stay when they have a child undergoing treatment in the hospital," said RMHC Events and Social Media Coordinator Meghan O’Rourke. "The housing is free, we have home cooked meals provided by volunteers, and we have laundry facilities. We give them general support as well as transportation to and from the hospitals so they can just focus on their child getting better."

O’Rourke said that in order to be able to provide these beneficial services to families here on the South Plains, they need your help. Every year they host the Red Shoe Shindig, which is their biggest fundraising gala of the year. Unfortunately, COVID-19 put this event on hold for the past two years. That means that this year is more important than ever!

What You Need to Know

Friday, April 29th, 2022, you can join the Ronald McDonald House Charities at the CenterPointe Event Center from 6 to 11 p.m. to help them to "get back to where we belong." This fun-filled night will feature live music from a Beatles tribute band, dancing, and delicious British-themed food from celebrity chef Angie Ragan. They will also have silent and live auctions, perfect for finding gifts for Mother's Day.

All the proceeds will help the Ronald McDonald House Charities continue to serve families from Lubbock and its surrounding communities. We live in a medical hub for the region, with RMHC serving almost 70 counties across Texas and Southeastern New Mexico. Every penny counts and you can make the difference.

Tables are going quickly, but there are still plenty of spots available for those looking to purchase single and couple tickets. Just head to their website or call them at (806) 744-8877 to grab a spot at this exclusive fundraising event.
