The United Family is Giving Back to Students in Need This Summer
The United Family will be holding their annual school supply fundraiser so students from a few Lubbock area school districts can have supplies for the upcoming Fall semester.
President of The United Family, Sidney Hopper, released a statement
We are so proud to once again partner with our surrounding school districts to help raise money for school supplies
Hopper also stated how the back-to-school time can be a fun and exciting time but can also be a time of stress for some families struggling financially.
Supplies donations will be slightly different as guests to all United Supermarkets, Market Street, or Amigos locations are encouraged to make monetary donations at the cash register. That does mean that there will not be any donation barrels for school supplies to be physically dropped off in but instead guests will be able to donate a dollar amount. All the funds donated from this annual event will go towards the school districts directly so that they can purchase the exact supplies they need for their students in need.
United Supermarkets did kick off the start of the event by gifting each superintendent from the participating schools a $150 gift card to go towards supplies. Schools participating in this event do include Lubbock ISD, Lubbock-Cooper ISD, Frenship ISD, Roosevelt ISD, Slaton ISD, and Shallowater ISD. The money raised during this time is expected to create an equal opportunity for all students in need so they don't have to worry about supplies as they further their education. The United Family's 2023 School Supply Fundraiser will only be for a limited time lasting from July 19 through August 1.
