Major improvements to a street in south Lubbock begin Tuesday. Work is now underway on rebuilding Frankford Avenue from Farm-to-Market 1585 to Woodrow Road. Portions of Frankford Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Crews will begin the project at FM 1585 and work their way south improving the road surface. Work is due to be complete by the end of September.

Another project of TxDOT will rebuild and widen a segment of west 4th Street from Frankford to Upland Avenue. The State project will add a continuous left-turn lane, improve the drainage structure, and revamp the roadway surface. Speed limits along the roadway will be reduced to 45 mph. That work is scheduled to be completed in November of 2012.
