Texas Tech Plans Several Events in Remembrance of the September 11th Attacks
Texas Tech University will commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the September 11th attacks with several campus events.
Tuesday a panel featuring US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, former CIA senior Executive Eric Pound and former U.S. Ambassador Tibor P. Nagy Jr will hold “9/11 Ten Years Later: three distinct Perspectives” at the international cultural center from 5:30 to six thirty. Director and Filmmaker Peter Josyph will also present his “Tribute to 9/11” and lecture from 5:30 to 7pm.
Thursday September 8th the Tech Activities Board and the Military and Veterans Program will host “Ten Years Later — Remembering 9/11,” which includes a remembrance service at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Circle and the showing of the film “In Memoriam: New York City 9/11/01” at 7 p.m. in the Student Union Escondido Theatre.
Sunday September 11th Veterans and first responders will be honored at halftime of Texas Tech’s soccer game vs. Toledo. The game begins at 12:30 p.m. at John Walker Soccer Complex.
September 12-16th the Veterans Association and partnering organizations will conduct a “Cell Phones for Soldiers” drive in the free speech area outside the Student Union Building.
