RNC’s Alice Stewart Responds to Beto O’Rourke’s Presidential Campaign Announcement [INTERVIEW]
Thursday on The Chad Hasty Show, former Ted Cruz communications director and current RNC spokesperson Alice Stewart joined the program to talk about the announcement that Beto O'Rourke is officially joining the race to be the Democratic Party's nominee for President of the United States in the 2020 general election.
About O'Rourke's liberal views and policies as compared to the other democrats in the race, Stewart said,
His far left policies are not what this country wants. He is in a long list of democrats who are swinging the Democratic Party so far to the left, they're going to fall off the edge of California, and it's just not what our country wants.
In response to Hasty's questions about whether or not the media's enthusiastic reporting about the liberalization of the state of Texas is true, Stewart said,
Are democrats making some inroads? Yes. But is Texas ready to go that way? I do not see that at all. Texas people support conservative policies, they support strong economic policies, they support strong national security, strong on the border, [pro] life issues, 2nd Amendment [rights]. And those are policies that resonate across Texas, not these liberal policies that are coming through. I think what we're still seeing is a little trickle down effect from the high of South by Southwest by the national media, and that will go away soon.
