Thursday on The Chad Hasty Show Representative Jodey Arrington joined Chad in the KFYO studio to discuss the latest news and topics in the national and West Texas conversations.

Arrington talked about the townhall meetings he is hosting around District 19, and shared his views on several issues of major concern to Texans, including firearms rights, possible "assault weapons" bans and "red flag" laws, multiple retirements announced by several Republican congressional seat holders from Texas, the trade dispute between the United States and China, as well as the crisis of the rapidly expanding national debt.

While talking about the non-stop calls for some sort of action in the wake of the recent El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio murders, Arrington said,

H.R.8 [or] any background check law or reform legislation proposal would not have stopped El Paso and Dayton...Pretending like a background check system's going to stop these guys is just another Washington sleight of hand. Maybe it makes somebody feel good, but it's not going to do the trick...The 'red flag' laws that I've seen just compromise due process in a way that I think is dangerous.
