Thursday on The Chad Hasty Show District 19 Representative Jodey Arrington appeared on the program with an update on the latest hot topics and Texas and Washington, D.C.

Arrington and Hasty discussed trade and agriculture producers in the United States, mass shootings, "red flag laws", expanded background checks for firearms sales, and more.

While making his point about the ineffectiveness of expanded background checks for sales of firearms, Arrington said, "The data is pretty clear. There's no real evidence [that] banning guns, or [implementing] additional background checks...will stop somebody who's hell-bent on mass murder."

Arrington continued saying,

Ultimately, as you know, the Second Amendment is about protecting one's self and their community [and] their state against a coercive central government or tyranny, that's the whole basis. I don't want to do anything that just makes us feel good, but doesn't actually have any real effect. And I certainly am not going to allow anything to happen that will infringe on that sacred, fundamental right to bear arms and protect ourselves against bad people and bad government.
