Human remains found in Big Spring have been sent by an FBI team to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office in Fort Worth.

There has been speculation that the remains are those of missing Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn, who disappeared on December 28th, 2010. Colorado City is in Mitchell County about 40 miles east of Big Spring.

The Odessa American quoted Sheriff Patrick Toombs of Mitchell County as saying it would be two or three weeks before DNA test results would be available to identify the remains. Authorities in Big Spring described the condition in which the remains were found near Big Spring airport as "partially mummified," and would have to be examined by an anthropologist. They refused to state whether or not the remains are those of Hailey Dunn.

The FBI team had come in from Dallas to assist Big Spring police in the investigation, along with the Howard County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers.
