Sweetwater Jaycees Rattlesnake Roundup is all about safety and educating the public on what to do if you encounter a rattlesnake out in the wild, Rob McCann told Lubbock's First News with Tom and Laura.

McCann was joined by his fellow Sweetwater Jaycees representative and rattlesnake handler Scott Van Allen, who handled one of the three snakes they brought with them this morning.

There will be weigh in pits and there is a show pit where one of the senior handlers puts on a safety and handling demonstration.

"He's in the pit with the biggest snakes that we bring into the roundup," McCann said.

The roundup takes place March 13-15 at the Nolan County Coliseum in Sweetwater, Texas.
