Rangers Serve Warrant on Lubbock Sheriff’s Office to Obtain Evidence in Tasing Death
A man who died after resisting arrest by Lubbock County deputies had been tased twice during the incident. Details in the case are shown in a search warrant served on the sheriff’s office by Texas Rangers. The warrant was to obtain a neighbor’s camera phone which recorded the incident.
Deputies were called to a Lubbock County home on September 24th about a man reportedly on drugs and acting up. They tased 43-year-old Donacio Rendon to restrain him before putting him in the back of a deputy's vehicle. Rendon broke free and began kicking the back window of the vehicle. When deputies opened the door, Rendon ran out of the car, and the stun gun was used on him again. That’s when he went limp. Sheriff Kelly Rowe says he does not believe his deputies acted inappropriately.
