On Friday, October 15th, a police report was revealed that gave new details to the officer-involved shooting that happened a few days before.

On Wednesday, October 13th, Lubbock Police responded to the Omni Apartments, located in the 4600 block of 54th Street around 4:40 p.m. for reports of shots fired. While on the way to the scene, the responding officers says they heard gunshots.

On arrival, the officer noticed 19-year-old Mark Anthony Casias III firing a gun on the north side of the complex. KAMC News reports that Casias pointed his gun at the officer when they made contact, placing the officer in fear of death. The officer fired one shot at Casias before he complied and lowered his weapon.

So far, it hasn't been determined whether or not the officer fired a warning shot or if the officer intended to hit Casias and missed.

Casias was charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer and has since posted bond.

The officer, whose identity has been withheld for safety reasons, has since been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into the shooting.
