One Texas Woman Is Still Free And Might Be In Lubbock
Officials with the United States Marshal's Service are still searching for a woman that was accidently released early from prison. The person that is currently wanted by the United States Marshal's Service, 28-year-old Katie Montez, was arrested back in 2021 in Lubbock during the multi-agency drug bust operation "Taste the Rainbow".
Operation "Taste the Rainbow" was an attempt at targeting leadership of gangs and criminal groups that threatened to impact Lubbock. Montez was accidently released from the custody of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in September. Montez was sentenced back in 2022, along with other people arrested during operation "Taste the Rainbow".
According to the United States Attorney's Office of the Northern District of Texas website Montez pleaded guilty to Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Crime was sentenced to serve 60 months (five years) in prison for that guilty plea. United State Marshals Officials do believe that Montez in the Lubbock area and are urging anyone in the public to come forward if they have any information of here whereabouts.
Montez is described as a white female standing at 5'4" and weighing roughly 125 pounds with brown eyes and hair color. Anyone with information of her whereabouts is asked to call Crime Line at 806-741-1000, you can remain anonymous.
