While monitoring the area, two men were seen engaging in an argument near one of the car wash stalls. Once officers saw one man strike the other, causing him to hit the ground and lose consciousness, they approached the business' parking lot.

When they arrived, the man who had struck the other had already gotten into his vehicle and had begun driving away. Police immediately followed the driver and noticed him swerving around vehicles recklessly to avoid other cars in nearby parking lots.

Authorities finally stopped the driver, later identified as Jeremy Farley, and detained him as they began their investigation.

Filling In the Pieces Explaining What Happened

Officers spoke with a nearby witness who claimed that Farley began arguing with her when he accused her of trying to take his picture. As the argument grew more and more heated, another man stepped in between them to protect the woman due to the fact that Farley was allegedly holding a gun.

Farley was seen striking the other man in the head with his pistol, sending him to the ground unconscious. The woman then claimed that Farley stole a gold chain from the victim's neck before pointing the pistol at her and getting into his car to flee the scene.

When police searched Farley's vehicle, they did not find a handgun, but did find ammunition and the previously-mentioned gold necklace covered in blood.

The woman's story made more sense when officers found a Glock .357 handgun in the parking lot with scuffs on it as if it was thrown from Farley's vehicle before he took off.

Farley's Criminal Charges

Jeremy Farley was placed under arrest and admitted to assaulting the man. However, he denied ever possessing a firearm.

Farley received a total of four criminal charges on April 6:

  • Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon - second-degree felony
  • Aggravated robbery - first-degree felony
  • Tampering with evidence - third-degree felony
  • Unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon - third-degree felony

Farley is currently being held in the Ector County Jail on a $105,000 bond.
