Multiple family members from Borger are in jail on drug and structuring a financial transaction.

37-year-old Jose “Junior” Fernandez, 26-year-old Aaron Fernandez, and 23-year-old Thomas Joseph Salazar have been charged with conspiracy to distribute narcotics, as was 43-year-old Francisco “Frank” Fernandez.

The men are charged with attempting to sell cocaine and methamphetamine, and have been detained.

Amy Fernandez, the wife of Frank Fernandez has also been charged in a separate complaint with structuring, or attempting to structure, a financial transaction. She has also been detained as well.

Four other defendants charged in separate criminal complaints with methamphetamine distribution have been detained as well.

Those defendants include 25-year-old Dustin Engler, 36-year-old Rafael Garcia Jr., 47-year-old Leonard Anthony Scott, and 38-year-old Tomar Embers. These individuals were arrested in the Amarillo area.

The maximum penalty for the structuring offense is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine, and can be increased if perpetrated in conjunction with another federal crime. Those charged with narcotics violations face a maximum penalty of life in prison, and a possible $10 million fine.

The U.S. Attorney General’s office must present the matters to a grand jury for indictment within 30 days.
