A young man was recently arrested in Ector County for a firearms trafficking crime that was the first case of its kind in the U.S.
20-Year-Old Arrested for Selling Guns to Terrorists
Santiago De Jesus Reyes-Soria, 20, was arrested on April 14 on the 400 block of South Moss Avenue in Odessa.
According to a release from the Texas Anti-Gang Center Permian Basin, Reyes-Soria was labeled a federal fugitive and wanted for his recent actions. The 20-year-old was charged with trafficking firearms to terrorist organizations.
The circumstances of this particular crime meant that Reyes-Soria's charges were the first of their kind in the U.S. due to the fact that the law was just recently added in 2022.
Anti-Gang Center Recent Wins
The Texas Anti-Gang Center in the Permian Basin had a busy month of March, executing a total of seven search warrants. The agency also seized more than the following:
- 6 lbs. of marijuana
- 14 oz. of THC
- 5 lbs. of meth
- 45 lbs. of cocaine
- 3 oz. of heroin
- 45 lbs. of fentanyl
Also, from December 1, 2025 through February 28, 2026, the center reported a total of 146 felony arrests and 40 misdemeanor arrests, seizing 58 weapons and $125,401 of currency in the process.
That three-month time frame also saw the anti-gang center confiscate 93 pounds of cocaine, 99 pounds of fentanyl, and even over a pound of Psilocybin.
