Lubbock’s congressman has announced three new Service Academy Appointees from the 19th Congressional District.

Jett Watson has been appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy. A Lubbock native, Watson is currently a senior at Monterey High School.

Cody Buczyma is an appointee to West Point Military Academy. Buczyma is a senior at Merkel High School.

David Ortiz has been appointed to the Air Force Academy. Ortiz is from Shallowater, and is currently a senior at Frenship High School in Wolfforth.

“I nominated these three young men because I recognized in each one the tremendous spirit and drive it takes to succeed in the military,” said Congressman Randy Neugebauer. “The opportunities unfolding before them are limitless, and I look forward to seeing what their futures hold.”

Neugebauer’s office will host two Academy Forums for those interested in applying for a Service Academy nomination on March 3rd.

The March 3rd forum in Lubbock will be held at the Science Spectrum, located at 2579 South Loop 289 at 10 a.m.

A forum will also be held in Abilene at Cisco Junior College in room 152, located at 717 East Industrial Blvd. Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Forums are free and open to the public.
