Thursday on the evening edition of The Chad Hasty Show, McKenzie Taylor, Senior Editor At The Texan, joined the broadcast to talk about several issues facing the state of Texas.

Taylor and Hasty discussed House Bill 3, the Texas Pandemic Response Act, which was introduced by District 83 Representative Dustin Burrows, and is currently a very hot topic in the Texas Legislature, sparking much debate on both sides of the isle. Also in the discussion was a bill introduced to finish, with state funds, the border wall which has been left unfinished after President Biden took office, as well as a bill protecting historical monuments, and much more.

Taylor said, while talking about HB-3,

Basically what this bill does is it largely codifies Governor Abbott's response to the pandemic. During COVID-19, during 2020, Governor Abbott drew a lot of the executive power that he utilized during that time period from the Texas Disaster Act, and essentially this bill would slide in one more chapter, right after chapter 418 of Texas government code, and say, OK, here's how Governor Abbott responded to the COVID-19 pandemic, and here's how it will be codified going forward.
