Mayor Tom Martin Explains Freezing Weather Rules

On Lubbock’s First News on KFYO, Mayor Tom Martin was asked about city regulations regarding watering your yard during freezing weather:

“Whenever the temperature is at or near freezing, there is a city ordinance that prohibits watering your yard during this freezing time.  If you have a new irrigation system being put in, you have to have the controls that will prevent that.  We certainly don’t want water running off into the street and then freezing and becoming a traffic hazard.  That’s what it’s designed to prevent.”
