Fees and taxes have been frequently discussed during the campaign.  On Lubbock’s First News on KFYO, Mayor Tom Martin, who has pledged that we will not support higher taxes if voters don’t  approve, talked about the role of fees.

“If you try to say we’re going to do away with fees and let everybody have free water and free electricity and free sewer service,  and put it all on property taxes, that would mean a tenfold, a 1000%  increase in property taxes.  That’s not acceptable to people.”

Glen Robertson, Martin’s opponent,  declined an invitation to be interviewed on KFYO.
