Wednesday on The Chad Hasty Show, Texas Democratic Party Executive Director Manny Garcia appeared on the program to discuss the coronavirus crisis and Governor Abbott's decisions.

In a statement released Monday, May 11, Garcia said of Governor Greg Abbott's decisions amidst the coronavirus crisis, "Abbott is looking out for his corporate donors at the expense of working Texans. Texans deserve competent leadership that has their back. We need a productive, thoughtful plan that balances reopening the economy and safety of each and every Texan. Most importantly,we need a plan led by experts and doctors, not lobbyists and big business.”

During the interview today, Hasty asked Garcia if he believes that Texas businesses should still be shut down, Garcia responded, saying,

I think we should. I think we should be a lot more cautious about what's going on. I mean, even the governor is rushing his own timelines. And, you know, that might make Donald Trump happy, but it's not going to keep employees safe, it's not going to keep consumers safe, it's not going to make sure that we are operating in a way that healthcare experts advise.
