Mackowiak: National Media Tipping The Scales With Selective Coverage Of School Shootings [INTERVIEW]
Monday on The Chad Hasty Show, Washington Times columnist and political analyst Matt Mackowiak joined the show to talk about all the latest events and news.
Mackowiak and Hasty discussed the murders at Santa Fe High School in southeast Texas, as well as the status of the investigations still active in Washington, D.C.
While discussing the differences between the national media coverage of the Parkland, Florida school murders and the more recent Santa Fe High School murders in Texas, Mackowiak said,
This particular school shooting does not have many of the elements that previous school shootings have had, in terms of the type of weapon, in terms of access to weapons. So I actually think that because of that you may not see all that much attention paid to this story. This story is not quite as useful to gun control advocates as some of the other [school shooting] stories have been. And I think that's part of the reason why, honestly, this hasn't been wall-to-wall [coverage in the media]...If you have any doubt about the national media putting their thumb on the scale [in favor of gun control], that's a pretty good example of how they're doing that.
