Mackowiak: Legislature Deserves Credit, But a Lot of Issues Not Addressed

Republican strategist Matt Mackowiak joined The Chad Hasty Show on Tuesday to discuss the 86th Texas Legislative Session that ended on Monday. Governor Greg Abbott has already said that there will not be a special session so that means what is done, is done.

Mackowiak said the legislature deserves credit for taking on school finance and property tax reform, but that many issues within the Republican Party Platform were not addressed in this session.

Mackowiak said that leadership was focused on the big issues (property tax reform, the budget, and school finance) and not the secondary issues that conservatives wanted. Mackowiak said it's a decision leadership will have to defend and that there is "frustration among the conservative grassroots".
