Lubbock Woman Accused of Shooting Man in the Head at Motel
A woman in Lubbock was recently arrested and accused of assaulting a man by allegedly shooting him in the back of the head at a local motel.
Lubbock Woman Shoots Man In Head
On August 20, the Lubbock Police Department responded to reports of a man being shot in the head at Executive Inn located on the 4400 block of Avenue Q.
When officers arrived, they discovered the man sitting near the front office of the motel holding a bloody towel to the back of his head. He told police that a woman, 34-year-old Yonna Mitchell, was the shooter who attacked him.
The man, who miraculously survived a bullet to the back of the head, was taken to a nearby hospital where the bullet was safely removed. He was then treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Everything Lubbock reports that Mitchell allegedly fled the scene after shooting the man, but was found nearby on the 4100 block of Avenue R.
Yonna Mitchell was then arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a weapon causing serious bodily injury to a family or household member.
Mitchell was sent to the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond to await her trial.
IMPORTANT: In Texas and the U.S., accused persons are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Accusations do not equate to guilt.
Executive Inn Crimes in Lubbock
This is not the first presence of crime impacting Lubbock's Executive Inn, as just last year a 34-year-old man was shot in his car while parked in the parking lot of the motel.
He was able to survive the initial attack and stumble into a motel room where police found him barely breathing. He later died from the gunshot wounds at the hospital.
