A man in Lubbock, Texas, was recently sentenced to prison for his involvement in multiple shootings. Even though one shooting resulted in the death of another man, his murder charge was eventually dropped.

Drive-By Shooting in Lubbock, TX

The shooter was reportedly inside of a moving vehicle as the two men, along with some children, were outside standing in their driveway. A security camera picked up one of the vehicles belonging to 22-year-old Adam Villarreal. Villarreal's girlfriend, who happened to be driving, told police that, although he carried a firearm, did not shoot at anyone during the altercation.

Allegedly, the third person in the vehicle was the only one who fired their gun at the two men in their driveway. It was also reportedly the third individual's idea to take part in the drive-by shooting in the first place.

Dispute Turned Deadly in Lubbock

The second incident in which Villarreal was a part of took place on September 16, 2021, just days after the drive-by shooting. It was here where police responded to a parking lot after gunshots were heard in the area. A woman was found on the ground with a bullet wound and was rushed to the hospital for her injuries.

According to a witness, the woman was meeting at the parking to pick up some family. This was when Villarreal arrived on the scene to engage in a fight with the woman. Allegedly, the two had had conflicts before in the past.

After the woman threw her drink at Villarreal, the fight escalated, and Villarreal reportedly kicked the woman in the knee before drawing a firearm and shooting her once. He then fled the scene immediately after.

Adam Villarreal's Prison Sentence

Originally, Villarreal had a total of 20 charges brought against him which included theft of a firearm, unlawful carrying of a weapon, evading arrest, and murder. All but two charges were either rejected or dismissed by the time he pleaded guilty in May 2025.
