Lubbock Police Investigate Stolen Credit Card Numbers
The Lubbock Police Department is currently investigating a case involving hundreds of stolen credit and debit card numbers from people across the state.
Around $62,000 total was taken from local Vista Bank and First Capital Bank ATM's using stolen card information between January 10th and January 14th, 2019.
Detectives believe the card information was stolen through card skimmers placed in locations such as gas pumps.
Lubbock police are working to identify the hundreds of victims who had money taken out of their accounts. Some victims may be from the South Plains area. However, authorities say the majority of the victims are likely to live in other parts of Texas.
Detectives are asking the public to check their bank accounts to see if there are any unauthorized ATM withdraws from Vista or First Capital. If there are, contact the investigators at 806-775-2814.
