Lubbock police have now identified the teenager that was killed in Friday morning’s shooting.

KAMC News reports that the Metro Special Crimes Unit is still investigating, but police have identified the shooting victim as 17-year-old Darrean Lee Nichols.

Shots were fired Friday morning, April 24th, at about 2:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Avenue M. Officers determined that Nichols and 18-year-old Brianna Garza were both shot after an unspecified altercation.

Garza and Nichols then drove to a house in the 1700 block of East 1st Place. Nichols was taken by EMS to a local hospital, but he did not survive his injuries.

Garza was taken to Covenant hospital for non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.
