Thirty-year-old Chance Lee Copeland was indicted Tuesday afternoon (June 25th) for a shooting that took place back on June 2nd.

According to a witness, on the night of the shooting, Copeland went to a man's apartment, assaulted him, took his keys and then drove off in the man's 2013 white Cadillac.

Copeland then allegedly called multiple people to organize a meeting in the parking lot of a gameroom located at 407 Martin Luther King Boulevard. When Copeland arrived, he pulled up next to another car on the south side of the game room.

KAMC News reports that a 37-year-old Cassie Oden then got into the Cadillac. That's when, according to a witness, Copeland pointed a gun at her asking about "the dope." Oden said she thought she was there to get money, and Copeland told her to call a man who was unidentified.

Oden left the vehicle to go grab her phone, and Copeland got out and fired several shots into the other car. Oden was killed in this shooting, and 24-year-old Preston Beadman, who was also in the other car, was shot in the shoulder. He survived after being treated at Covenant Medical Center.

Copeland was also charged with aggravated kidnapping back in February 2018, and that case is still pending. He was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $750,000 bond.
