Lubbock Man Arrested for Assault on Peace Officer
A Lubbock man was arrested for aggravated assault on a peace officer after he attempted to flee a traffic stop.
Lubbock Police Officers initially tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation just after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18th in the 900 block of East Emory Street.
The driver, identified later as 37-year-old Aaron Pulley, didn't immediately pull over but eventually stopped. The officer requested an additional officer to respond due to the original non-compliance.
The second officer arrived and attempted to position their vehicle in from of Pulley's as he was putting it in drive. Pulley then fled and struck the rear of the officer's vehicle. One officer fired shots at Pulley's vehicle, striking it, but not Pulley himself.
Police began a pursuit that ended when Pulley struck a private citizen's vehicle and natural gas meter, causing a gas leak on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Lubbock Fire Rescue and Atmos Energy responded to the leak.
Pulley was booked for aggravated assault on a peace officer, evading arrest, criminal mischief and misdemeanor traffic violations.
