28-year-old Isaac Morado has been arrested and charged with the murder of 83-year-old Gilbert Morado. The shooting occurred on June 14 in the 5400 block of 39th Drive in Lubbock.

According to KAMC, the victim's wife was sitting with him watching TV when she heard the gun shot and according to KAMC, heard her husband groan. Gilbert Morado was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

KAMC reports that during the investigation, Isaac Morado eventually admitted to shooting his "PePaw".

Redacted court documents indicated Isaac tried to lie to investigators. Eventually, court records stated, “he admitted that he had in fact shot his PePaw.”

According to court documents, Isaac told authorities he grabbed the gun, shot once and then put the gun on a basket on a dresser.

“Isaac said he intended to shoot him,” court documents said.

Isaac was arrested and charged with murder. As of Thursday, he remained at the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.

KAMC reported that Morado was shot in the back.
